10 May 2017, Porto Alegre, Brazil: CAMECA organized its 2nd South-American SX User Meeting & EPMA Workshop. The workshop took place in the EPMA lab of the Institute of Geosciences at Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, equipped with two CAMECA SX electron microprobes, including the latest SXFive model.
After a welcome talk by Prof. Andre Mexias, Director of the Institute of Geoscience, Keith Baxter presented the latest instrumental innovations from CAMECA & Nu, and gave an brief overview of research applications covered by our product lines. Michel Outrequin covered the basics of the EPMA technique, SXFive electron microprobe capabilities, applications in geology, mineralogy, materials science and forensics.
Participants came from UFRGS (Universidade Federal Do Rio Grande Do Sul) as well as from PUC-RS (Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul) and CPRM (Serviço Geológico do Brasil).
