Kyoto University orders LEAP 4000XHR
CAMECA Kyoto LEAP

April 2014: Kyoto University, Japan, recently ordered a LEAP 4000XHR Atom Probe to equip the Elements Strategy Initiative for Structure Materials (ESISM). The tool will be applied to a broad range of fundamental studies of the structure-property relationships in metal systems and the analysis of grain boundaries in steels.

ESISM specializes in research on crystalline materials and CAMECA's 3D Atom Probe is the only analytical instrument capable of investigating crystal defect properties at the nanoscale. Thanks to their new instrument, ESISM teams will be able to improve the characteristics of crystal materials by controlling the array or structure. This includes analyzing and controlling lattice defect, deformation mechanisms of structural intermetallics, mechanical properties of order-disorder intermetallic phases.
